Frisco Area Kids Encouraged to Write Mother’s Day Essays

Several “Total Mommy Makeovers” to be awarded in May

Frisco, TX (April 14, 2013) – Attention Frisco Area Kids … Want to give Mom the best free Mother’s Day gift ever? The Style House of Frisco invites you to participate in its Total Mommy Makeover Contest, running April 15th thru May 8th. Put your persuasive writing skills to the test and compose an essay titled “Why My Mom Deserves a Style House Makeover.”

“Motherhood is so satisfying, yet requires so many daily sacrifices. We want to honor the critical role moms play in our community and offer a few lucky moms the chance to take a day off and feel blissfully pampered and appreciated,” said Amanda Embry, local stylist and owner of The Style House.

A panel of judges will review each entry and select one deserving mom to receive three complimentary services of their choice (a retail value of up to $500). Additionally, one free service will be offered to first- and second-runners up. Featured Stylist of the Week – Hannah Francis

This week I took some time to sit down the sweet, beautiful and talented Hannah Francis to ask her a few questions.

1. Where did you grow-up? I grew up in Frisco and my family has been here for 4 generations.  I know that is hard to believe!

2.  How long have you been a stylist? I studied at the Aveda Institute and have been a hair stylist since 2009.  I always knew that this was the perfect profession for me.

3.  What is your favorite part of the job? I love that I can be creative and artistic.

4.  What inspires your work? In regards to color, I enjoy creating looks that you would naturally get from the sunlight or from hanging out at the beach.

5.  Why did you decide to become a hair stylist? I felt that I always had a natural talent and my sisters are in the same field.

6.  Our life is often shaped by those around us, so who is someone you look up to.  I would have to say one of my past educators, Christopher.  He was very passionate about his work and inspiring.

7.  So, with summer around the corner, do you have anything exciting going on?  I have a trip planned to Europe, possibly Spain and Italy.  I cannot wait!!!

8.  What would you say is the NEW hair trend for the spring and summer? This summer it is all about short hair—a really long bobs with subtle face framing.

9. What celebrity would you love to give a hair makeover to?  Britney Spears—she needs a new color and needs some help with her extensions.

10.  What celebrity’s hair do you love the most? Current? Carey Mulligan, I like the short pixie cut she is sporting on the new movie, “The Great Gatsby.” Past? Grace Kelly for her elegance and beauty.

11.  What would you say makes you unique? I’ve trained horses and it’s one of my biggest passions, along with hair styling!
